June 14, 2006 - Signs of a Seller's Market

Does the current housing climate favor the buyer or the seller? This is always a key question for anyone preparing to enter into a real estate transaction. The market favors the seller when there is a low inventory of homes with more buyers than properties. Sellers receive multiple offers and properties sell quickly. Local builders cannot keep up with the demand for new housing, so prices on existing homes increase.

We are experiencing a strong seller’s market here in Utah County this year. In a report published by the Bureau of Economic and Business Research, home appreciation in the Alpine, Highland and Cedar Hills areas have appreciated from 61% to 110% over the last eight years. This is great news for both buyers and sellers. For buyers, real estate in this area is a great way to invest in the future. For sellers, now is the perfect time to sell for the best price and a quick sale.
